The Eduma School Building

The Eduma School Building project by Duala Foundation is a testament to the power of community and collaboration in creating positive change. In response to a tragic event that led to the loss of a young life,...

The Foundation embarked on a mission to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for the children of Eduma, a small town near Yamoransa in the Central Region of Ghana.

The project was born out of necessity, as the children of Eduma faced challenges accessing education after a fatal snakebite incident occurred during their daily trek to school in Yamoransa. With no school of their own and temporary arrangements in uncompleted buildings, the need for a proper educational facility became paramount.

The Duala Foundation took the lead by raising 40,000 cedis to lay the foundation of a two-storey school building. Recognizing the magnitude of the project, a partnership with the Helping Africa Foundation was formed, with the latter taking charge of completing the remaining construction phases.

The impact of the Eduma School Building project extends to 150 students, who now have a safe and accessible space for learning. The involvement of partners like the University of Cape Coast 70s year group, who contributed 33,000 cedis, further illustrates the collaborative effort invested in this initiative.

Looking beyond the immediate construction, the project envisions future programs such as evening vocational classes for women in the area, highlighting a holistic approach to community development and empowerment.

As construction progresses and the school takes shape, the Eduma School Building project stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the children and residents of Eduma. It represents a collective effort to transform tragedy into triumph, laying the foundation for a brighter future through education and empowerment.
